Toruń is obviously more than just Copernicus, gingerbread and gothic architecture, and those who wish to push past the static of these topics are advised to swing by the Museum of the History of Toruń.
Residing within the city's imposing Eskens' House in the old town's back streets, this institution presents the whole story - from prehistoric times and little bits of pottery and spearheads to the times of the Teutonic knights and onwards to the city as it is today in the 21st century. While the displays and curation can't compete with, say, the House of Copernicus, we still recommend it for history buffs looking to cram more into their cerebral faculty. Aside from the interactive displays, there's also a short 3-D film, titled A book called Toruń.
