You’ll be grasping for the camera as soon as it comes into view. Arguably the prettiest building in Faro, the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a Baroque stunner that actually benefited from the 1755 earthquake, although it obviously didn’t feel like it at the time. When the time came to repair the church, Brazilian gold was added to the facade in order to increase the elegance of it all. A success? Come on, what sort of question is that? The beauty of the church and monastery is at odds with the Chapel of Bones that is found within, to say the least.
