A medieval beauty in the old town, Faro’s Cathedral is not quite as old as it seems. It was built in the 13th century but that darn earthquake in 1755 did a real number on the church, levelling it almost entirely and playing the key role in the architectural mix we see today. The first floor of the tower is all that remains from the original. One of the most important cathedrals in the Algarve, Faro Cathedral is also one fo the most picturesque.
