The Uji i Ftohtë or 'cold water sources' has copious amounts of water emerging from springs below the mountains along the steep Drinos river valley. The clattering water cools the area and provides a constant water supply for the flora and fauna, resulting in an abundance of large trees and birdsong. No wonder this has become a popular spot to stop off along the road, 8km south of Tepelena along the road to Gjirokastra, with a restaurant straddling one of the beauty spots where waterfalls cascade into the river.
