Mokosh - A Culinary Oasis in Split's Historic Villa

26 Mar 2025

Get ready for one of Split’s most romantic dining destinations, a spectacular setting of deep love and delicious food fuelled by magic.

That sounds like a lot, but trust us, we’re only flirting with the tip of the iceberg there. Open once more with a new name and a new story, Mokosh makes the most of a thrilling location inside the gorgeous Villa Tončić to showcase everything that makes Split so special.
This place has seen many stories over the centuries, and its most delicious chapter is about to begin.

Bringing together those iconic ingredients of tradition, creativity, and gastronomic excellence, Mokosh brilliantly marries its charming surroundings with a menu to celebrate. The garden at Villa Tončić may as well have been created with a romantic restaurant in mind, but the setting is only half the story. After all, you go to a restaurant to eat, right? You’ll do plenty of that here, with a menu that mirrors the ebbs and flows of Split’s seasons. The restaurant takes its name from the old Slavic goddess of nature, and the rules of the natural world are obeyed at every turn. Freshness is vital here, although having a chef at the helm (Alberto Garcia Perez) with Michelin Star experience certainly doesn’t hurt.
So whether you are after a brunch to remember or a romantic dinner accentuated by class and cocktails, you will find all that and then some at Mokosh.
This is the Mediterranean at its most magnificent.

The villa itself, designed by renowned architect Kamilo Tončić, was once a hub for Split’s social and artistic elite.
Today, it continues to embody that spirit.

The garden surrounding the villa is a hidden oasis, a luxurious yet untamed Mediterranean landscape full of cozy corners perfect for unwinding. Its distinctive fountain creates a peaceful atmosphere, offering a place to connect with nature and enjoy a slow-paced day. The villa itself has been thoughtfully renovated, maintaining Tončić’s original architectural language while subtly incorporating modern touches. The interior design, led by architect Katja Stubny and studio 502, emphasizes fluidity and spaciousness, blending color and textures that invite conversation and emotion.
Original art pieces and ceramic vases contribute to the sensory experience, enhancing the overall dining environment.
