Cały Gaweł Cantine Bar Cafe

  ul. Dworcowa 7, Sopot      (+48) 604 17 37 17     more than a year ago
Landing in the TOP 50 Polish restaurants as rated by Forbes.pl & FOR Solutions, this industrial-looking premesis with a pleasant terrace area outside are  brought to life through acombination of food and hospitality, which has succeeded in creating a devoted local following. The menu makes great use of local produce and the very friendly owner, Gaweł (the Polish equivalent of Gallen) hasn’t just put his name over the door, but appears to have put his heart into the place. Breakfast is a popular time to be here, with Kashubian style ruchanki z fjutem and plenty of fresh platters with egg to be found. Other casual styles of serves include the Bronka Burger and a 'Polish Bowl' with rosemary potatoes, fried egg and bacon. More impressive is the talerzyki wooden board, with various types of tatars!

For those looking for an explanation in the name, Gaweł is the restaurant's very-friendly owner. This not-so-common Polish name means he was probably named after an old poem called 'Paweł i Gaweł' about a sort of Bert and Ernie living situation. Gaweł, a name made-up for the sake of rhyming with Paweł, was the wild, unruly one. Therefore, the wordplay of 'Cały Gaweł' suggests that this establishment is functioning without any influence from Paweł!
