The St Anthony's Channel Visitor Centre should be your first port of call in these parts, but not just for the basic nuts and bolts of information. The permanent exhibition Touch of the River and the Sea is fabulous, brilliantly explaining the local landscape through education and entertainment, while the large model of the underwater environment (seriously, it takes up the whole room) is fascinating. It is located in an old Yugoslav army facility in the bay of Minerska, which is another excellent reason to visit. Movie fans will be excited to hear that some scenes of "How the War Started On My Island" were filmed here.
