Standing beside a major junction on the main Zadar-Šibenik road (it’s right opposite the turn-off to Murter island), Marin is one of the most popular mid-journey stop-offs in this stretch of Dalmatia. Most people come here to sample the spit-roast lamb – a specimen can usually be seen slowly revolving above a log fire outside in the car park. The lamb is priced by weight and served in a mixture of chunks (expect to get a selection of both lean and fatty cuts), usually with a garnish of spring onion. The menu covers most other things in the Adriatic repertoire too, with fish and squid figuring strongly.
