Civitas Sacra – The Holy City programme, was developed in collaboration between the town of Šibenik, its tourist board, as well as the diocese. At its centre is the Cathedral of St. James, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the recently renovated Galbiani Palace. With tourism in mind, this programme will look to create new jobs as well as extend the regional tourist season past the traditional summer months. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, Civitas Sacra sees the now-open interpretive centre of the cathedral, while the interior of the palace has been conceived as a modern, multimedia presentation of the cultural and historical heritage of Šibenik, throughout the ages.
