When the Pavilion Theatre opened in 1904 it was regarded as luxurious for its time and described by the owners as "pure Louis XV".  Many of the leading music hall artistes of that period appeared at the Pavilion, including a then unknown Charlie Chaplin. To this day it retains the over the top opulence much loved by theatre goers and  remains the last stronghold of the music hall tradition in Glasgow.
