The Concha Bay is the most iconic sight you probably have seen of San Sebastian: it is the most classic, the most photographed, the most visited. The ‘shell beach’ is renowned as one of Europe’s most beautiful urban shorelines. Playa de la Concha beach extends for more than a kilometer and is filled with mixed crowd of locals and visitors alike, seeking to cool off in the Cantabric Sea water. Its protected location in the bay ensures calm, gentle waters that are safe for swimming. Besides sunbathing and swimming, you shouldn’t miss strolling along the lovely promenade, adorned by luxurious beachside mansions and punctuated with several famous elements such as the Concha railing (unmistakable for its design), the lamp posts (replicated in the international Film Festival awards) and “los relojes” (“the clocks”, main access to the beach).
