In an area that has been dominated for centuries by Dutch leather and shoe manufacturers you'll find the Dutch Leather and Shoe Museum. The building may seem rather industrial and the name may sound dull, but the museum is anything but. In an unusually interesting and often interactive way, visitors are taken on a journey through time and all across the globe. From Eskimo shoes made of sealskin to traditional boots of Tibetan monks, everything that has to do with foot apparel is on display here. Apart from a colourful collection of shoes, you can also look at tools and even a completely rebuilt factory in this charming museum. Don't leave the Langstraat (the colloquial name of the area) without trying the local specialty Halve Zool (half sole – a kind of almond paste cake) at the museum café. Take bus No.136 in the direction of Waalwijk from the ‘s-Hertogenbosch or Tilburg train stations to the Floris V-laan stop.
