Den Bosch has set itself the target of being fully carbon neutral in 2050, which means all energy used in town must be generated by sustainable sources like water, wind or sun. A few years back the town's very first modern wind turbine was put into operation at the industrial site at Treurenburg. The turbine of the 98m-tall windmill produces about 4.6 million kilowatt-hours of sustainable electricity per year, enough to provide more than 1,500 homes with green electricity. However, the large majority of this sustainable energy was used by the Den Bosch branch of, you guessed it, Heineken. We'll have to do a taste test to see if the renowned beer in the green bottle tastes any different.
