Cappuchin Crypt/Catacombs

Visiting the Museum and Crypt of the Capuchin Friars, also known as the Capuchin Crypt, can be both exciting and scary at the same time. Located beneath the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione, the museum is home to the intact and dismembered skeletons of about 4,000 monks that died between the 16th and the 19th century. It is actually a religious site, so loud talking is considered disrespectful; photographs are prohibited; and no hats, bare shoulders, skirts and shorts are allowed.
