Although kaņepes is actually weed or hemp in Latvian, don’t get your hopes up. This funky, self-proclaimed culture centre run by a guy whose last name happens to be Kaņepe is actually a local hotspot for hipsters who appreciate having drinks, listening to music and doing other arty things in a dilapidated wooden building. That said, we've definitely noticed the presence of cannabis smoke on hot summer nights. Its summer courtyard is by far its greatest asset and it’s usually full of people knocking back local craft beers on old furniture. You can also come here for concerts, cinema nights and art exhibitions, as well as for weekday lunch specials and a casual Sunday brunch (12:00 - 16:00).
