In real estate it’s all about location, location, location, but sometimes that’s true of restaurants, too. Yes, this cosy, renovated wooden building serves delicious international cuisine and even some exotic fare like the grilled frogs’ legs and bear fillet, and, yes, the service with a smile is much better than at your average Riga eatery, but Kasdārzā can attract patrons due to its fabulous locale alone. This lovely cottage overlooking the Riga canal is surrounded by a number of terraces on different levels and each in turn is flanked by flowers and plants as if you were dining in a friend’s garden. In the evenings DJs spin tracks until late for the city’s cocktail crowd, but even if you have an aversion to summer signatures like the Aperol spritz, have no fear as dozens of brews from Latvia and around the globe are also available.
