Monte Kristo offers reasonable prices and a quiet Old Riga location. All rooms are decorated in a similar style with beige, maroon and gold colours and a hardly noticeable nautical theme and include satellite TV, phone, internet access, mini-bar, safe and private bathrooms. Junior suites are more spacious and include sound systems.
This hotel is very good quality for money mainly due to its location. It's right on the edge of the historic old town and very near the train and bus stations within walking distance unless you have tons of baggage. The front desk is very helpful and friendly and the breakfast is good quality. The hallways and rooms have this dark red black decor that conjures up images of what "Madame Sofia's boudoir" might look like (minus the ship motif of course) and in the winter the place is eternally dusky. These are not reasons to avoid the hotel which appears to have numerous loyal customers.

Excellent hotel with plenty of charm. The ladies at the front desk are the best! Friendly and helpful. Superb location in the old town. Breakfast is quite good as well.

Value for money. Appears grand scale room wise (who hangs out in the lobby anyway), clean, quiet & central. Great staff, extremely friendly (not typical East European) For business travel accommodation its a winner. Worth missing out on a few loyalty points, who wants to walk over the bridge at night anyway!
