This is a great, value for money, three star hotel situated about a fifteen minute walk from the Old Town. I stayed here for 3 nights in February and couldn’t really fault it for the price. I arrived by plane and took the airport bus [number 22] into town for 70 santims [L0.70]. To get to the hotel you can either get off at the Stockmann department store and walk through the market or the next stop just under the railway bridge on Gogola street. The hotel is a five minute walk from either stop. The neighbourhood is a little down at heel and there isn’t much going on in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. However, the area felt safe, even at night, and I found a great little bar just around the corner on Gogola called “Banuzis”. They have a ‘happy hour’ every day from 17.00-19.00hrs when half a litre of lager costs just 50 santims [L0.50]. The regular price was only 80 santims [L0.80] which still seemed cheap when compared to most other bars in central Riga where prices were double that or more. Finally, I’d like to complement the hotel on its customer service. The girls on reception were friendly and helpful and, when my flight home was cancelled due to the snow, as a goodwill gesture they knocked 25% off the room rate for the extra night.
