A geological oddity in such a crumpled landscape, the 800-metre-high plateau at Gomsiqe, halfway between Vau i Dejes and Puka, has been flattend by millennnia of tectonic movement and erosion. Neary, the yew tree pond local beauty spot near Pevzhë in the Gomsiqe valley has a grove of tall, 250-year old yews. More arborical miracles can be found in the cemetery of Korthpulë, the next village south, where two massive oak trees of over 300 years old survive. The Gomsiqe river deep in the valley is notorious for springtime flooding but otherwise offers great hiking along the meandering water. Cobblestoned stretches of the ancient road from Shkodra to Prizren via Sarda are still visible at some sites along the river.
