Upcycle & Repair Express Pop-up at The Linden Market
Embrace sustainable fashion with the launch of the exciting Upcycle & Repair Express Pop-up stall at the Linden Market on Sat, Sep 2 and Sun, Sep 3. Whether it's a ripped seam, a broken zipper or a simple alteration, the pop-up's talented seamstresses have got you covered. With the belief in extending the lifespan of our clothes and finding innovative ways to repurpose materials, this stall hopes to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future and reduce clothing waste.The pop-up is a collaboration with fantastic brands like Sari for Change, who repurpose gently worn saris into new, stunning garments and design label Silver Magpie which produces clothing in unique prints and colours. Other brands like Differently, Dr Pachanga Clothing and Mc Alpine Clothing form part of this pop-up launch geared towards reducing waste, igniting creativity and championing upcycling. A colourful collaboration with Pick n Pay and Thando x Kiav
Munkus founder Thando Ntuli and freelance fashion designer Kiav Mitoo have partnered with Pick n Pay Clothing to create a collection that celebrates fashion, sustainability and women's empowerment. The collection was revealed at the Sandton flagship store on Thu, Aug 17 and featured a fashion show to showcase the collection of colourful and printed blazers, tailored pants, dresses, collared jackets as well as a matching recycled shopper bag. The highlight is a captivating sleeveless wrap midi-dress with printed details. 'Spring on the Hill' is the theme of the fifth edition of the Curated Maker's Market which takes place on Fri, Sep 1 at Constitution Hill where you can expect to find a variety of handmade goods, art, crafts, ceramics, jewellery, homeware and textiles from talented Joburg creatives. With more than 40 stalls, you'll be hard-pressed to not find something, or a few things, that catch your eye. You can become a maker yourself for the day with a candle-making workshop with Mist Candles. A weekend-long art and culture immersion comes to Maboneng from Fri, Sep 1 – Sun, Sept 3 as the BMW Art Generation, in collaboration with FNB Art Joburg takes place at The Centre for the Less Good Idea. In addition to the art on show, there will also be a fantastic lifestyle market, music and dance performances and fashion from Merchants on Long, Kente Gentlemen, Laurence Airline, Nkwo, Imane Ayissi, Okapi, Fuata Moyo, and Viviers Studio.

Maria McCloy has become a prominent figure in Johannesburg's creative scene as a skilled publicist and aspirant DJ over the last two decades, but behind the media pioneer we've come to know is a visionary designer as well. A versatile artist, McCloy blends urban culture enthusiasm and accessory design, even creating exceptional African print shoes and clutches. Her eponymous brand, Maria McCloy Accessories, launched in 2012, showcases shoes, jewellery and bags inspired by Johannesburg.
