In the cellar space of the lovely Iron Gate Hotel is this superlative Indian restaurant unashamedly catering to five star standards. Chefs specialise in various cuisines and dessert, clients have included a Bollywood star, politicians and monarchs sampling their delicate taste sensations of tender lamb, vegetable, chicken and thali dishes. The murgh, so often bland instead of subtle, remains imprinted on the mind long after the zalebi and Masala tea has been savoured. Classical Indian music and dance accompanies on occasion, and do try the Indian wine. A stunning newcomer to the scene.
The restaurant was totally empty when we arrived on a saturday evening. We thought it was strange, because the restaurant got pretty good reviews on the internet. But soon we understood why. Everything was a disaster, The most pushy waiter you can ever imagine, mutiply with 1000! No kidding, he tricked my boyfriend to order 2 main courses, and tried to make us to choose the most expensive courses and indian wine! Have you ever heard about indian wine? He said it was the best in the world. What a liar! The food was actually not so bad, but the waiter ruined our appetit completely. I got the feeling that we were at a marked place where the sellers were trying to persuade you to buy as much as possible, even though you don't want to. I was so annoyed because I had to reject the waiters suggestion so many times. The prices are totally rip off too. So don't go there, if you want a pleasant dinnertime. Another creepy thing is they lock the restuarant doors after you, why would any restaurant do that? Are they afraid for the guests to escape because everything was so awful?Lilly
