Peter and the Wolf was created by Sergey Prokofiev as  children's theater composition, meant to introduce young listeners to classical music and train them to recognise the distinct sounds produced by various instruments of the orchestra. He achieved it by assigning each character in a story a musical instrument. The Grand Theater's production is very modern but the goal remains the same - to introduce children to the world of classical music before television, video games and social media will.
