The National Museum in Poznań presents Jacek Malczewski / Lech Majewski, a unique video art exhibition where filmmaker Lech Majewski reinterprets the works of Jacek Malczewski. Opening on July 26, the exhibition features 13 short films that bring Malczewski’s iconic paintings—such as Thanatos and Portrait of the Artist’s Family—to life. Figures step out of Malczewski’s canvases to journey through Polish landscapes, from rural scenes to urban life. Audiences are invited to reflect on whether Malczewski’s vision resonates today, encountering angels, chimeras, and other mythical figures along this symbolic journey through past and present Poland.
