Illusions of Omnipotence explores the German occupation’s impact on architecture and daily life in Warthegau, a region of the German Third Reich that encompassed Poznań and various localities on the Warta River. Focusing on Nazi-led Germanization in WWII, the exhibition reveals how architecture was used to assert power and create a controlled community under occupation. Set in the Imperial Castle once adapted for Hitler’s envisioned headquarters, it includes artefacts such as destroyed monuments, Nazi maps, and plans for an idealized German future, juxtaposing occupiers' aspirations with the occupied population's experiences. An installation by Iza Tarasewicz offers an artistic commentary on history’s enduring relevance as WWII's 80th anniversary nears.
