Bestowed with the ‘Bib Gourmand’ for ‘great value’ by Michelin (the tyre-eaters), we would push back against the notion of pairing expensive wines and cheeses, particularly in place of an actual meal, as any sort of bargain. But we will wholeheartedly endorse this unique bistro, cheese and wine bar/shop as one Poznań’s most impressive gastronomy venues. Subtly split into two sides, on one is the upmarket, but casual bistro serving delicious cheese-inclusive European dishes from the a la carte menu (including their interpretation of the local specialty ‘pyra z gzikiem,’ and a vegetarian ‘Beet Wellington’), or a 5-course tasting menu (plus cheeses, petit fours and wine pairing) selected daily by the chef. Perfect for a fancy date night, the menu changes regularly, but the exquisite quality never slips.
Over at the cheese bar, you can order some smaller bites, fancy cheese boards to share with your friends, and - their specialty - ‘flights,’ or cheese boards paired with alcohol. When it comes to the latter - which can be paired with wines, non-alcoholic wines, craft beer, or even spirits - we have to say that the value is quite good, just don’t mistake it for your dinner. All of their many, many cheeses - sourced from all over Europe and beyond - can be boxed up and used to scent your suitcase. Bon Fromage!
