Animator is a pretty big deal: it's one of three Oscar-qualifying festivals in Poland. (To answer your next question, the other two are the Warsaw Film Festival and the Krakow Film Festival). Each year, over 300 films are screened as part of the festival, accompanied by an extensive programme of workshops, lectures, performances, live concerts, exhibitions and meetings with filmmakers. What sets this festival apart is the special attention placed on the relationship between animation and music in film, confirmed by special screenings accompanied by live music. Of course, there's no lack of premieres, retrospectives, and thematic screenings, as well as a special portion of the programme dedicated to kids.
