Pan Peryskop ('Mr. Periscope,' also known as 'The Watcher,') is a well-known street art character by 'Noriaki' - a local artist sometimes referred to as the 'Poznań Banksy.' The iconic peeping eye of Noriaki's Watcher can be seen in a variety of poses and activities in public spaces all over Poznań (and beyond) - peering out of trash bins, spying around corners, perching on cornices, walking his dog, drinking cocktails and even tagging more buildings with his own image. In fact, the clandestine character has become so ubiquitous that he's now an unofficial symbol of the city, and Noriaki was even commissioned to create this large-scale art installation of The Watcher on Plac Bernardyński. Officially dubbed 'Selfie Watcher,' the sculpture features a convex mirror in place of the character's eye, which allows viewers to see a distorted reflection of themselves. Five years in the making, the popular installation debuted in this spot in December 2023.
