On 6 May 1945, the US Army liberated Pilsen. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of this event, the Patton Memorial Pilsen museum was established. Named for the legendary military commander, the museum contains period photographs of Pilseners with US soldiers, period English-language newspapers, authentic uniforms, gear and weapons, chewing gum, cigarettes and even unopened tins of food that remained in Pilsen after the liberators departed.
