The University of Pisan is one of the oldest in Europe and currently houses 20 departments in buildings, each more beautiful than the next. Stroll along the banks of the Arno river and see the Palazzo alla Giornata that houses the Rectorate; go back to nature by admiring the University Botanical Garden and travel into space at the Astronomic Observatory; channel you inner 15th century student with a visit to Palazzo della Sapienza on the Piazza del Grano and be on the lookout for the cherub – the university's symbol – that guards the entrance to the square.
