Eight kilometres northeast of the city, Prilep Lake, which is in actual fact an artificial body of water that once formed part of a now abandoned marble mine, is simply stunning. Popular for swimming in when it’s hot and with no facilities nearby, it doesn’t get much more secluded than this. Reaching the place is difficult without the help of a 4x4 or a decent mountain bike.
