Famous for their sausages, elaborate pita bread concoctions and lokum (or Turkish delight as it’s more commonly known), the good people of Kruševo also make a dish known locally as Kruševsko grne, a simple stew or casserole prepared from whatever’s lying around, including cuts of meat, slices of sausage, cabbage, carrots and even white cheese. Perfect at any time of year and especially rewarding when it’s cold, ask a waiter if you can’t see it on the menu and it may just be produced out of thin air.
