Approaching from Oristano, you will spot the church standing on a hill on the right side of the road. According to tradition, the church was built over the burial ground of Saint Lussorio who was persecuted under Diocletian in 304. All that remains of the original structure (12th century) are the northern side and the apsis, while the Gothic-Aragonese portal betrays a 15th century refurbishment of the façade. The early Christian hypogeum, dug out around the presumed tomb of Saint Lussorio, still displays traces of 4th and 5th century frescoes and mosaics.
