Things move fast in Croatia, and not a day goes by without something new popping up. Every time we return to a town, a new restaurant, bar or cafe seems to be grabbing everyone’s attention, and we can’t help but get caught up in the excitement. Keeping up with the new spots is one of the highlights of this lovely job, so we’ve put together a home for Croatia’s newest establishments. Enjoy!
Oltre Mare
Kod Svetog Ante 1, Preko, Ugljan IslandWith an unbeatable location on the island of Ugljan, Oltre Mare is the sort of restaurant that comes straight out of a dream. As you might assume from a restaurant in such a spot, fish and seafood dominate the menu, and you can guarantee the freshest catch on your plate as you make plans to never leave the glory of the island. Throw in some traditional Dalmatian accompaniments (olive oil, gorgeous bread, local meats), and you’ve got an extraordinary gastronomic experience.
Museum of Unfinished Art
Eugena Kumičića 10, ZagrebIf ever there was a museum created specifically for us, the Museum of Unfinished Art might just be that spot. Located on Eugena Kumačića in the capital, the museum gives a little bit of love to pieces of art that never made it to completion (as the name suggests), and it encourages visitors to look at art and creativity in a whole new way. There is something beautiful about the concept of this place, something uniquely human. We adore it.
Iuris Winery
Hrašćanska 40, ZagrebIuris styles itself as “more than a wine, more than a winery,” and we aren’t about to disagree. This is wine for people who really love the stuff, a true must for oenophiles and anyone interested in discovering new ways to enjoy the drink of kings and queens. Iuris really is an embassy of vineyards and is the perfect to explore Croatia’s ever-evolving wine scene without leaving the capital.
