Roughly a centruy before the American shopping mall was all the rage, Italians had nobel visions of what a space that combined shoping, coffee drinking, and socializing should like. The country's best are the strikingly similar Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and the Galleria Umberto I. Located directly across from the San Carlo opera house, it would be a shame to visit Naples and without taking a moment to stand under the dazling glass roof of this illustrious shopping arcade.
