Manchester is a city of the people, and nowhere is that more clear than at the People’s History Museum. Located in a Grade II listed former pumping station, this is the home of democratic history in the UK and features the largest collection of artefacts and documents detailing the story of the working people in the country. The history of British democracy is traced from start to the present day (which may or may not be ‘finish’, we’ll see how Brexit goes), with an impressive roster of temporary and permanent exhibitions.
