Just 8km upstream from Tamara along the main road, Selca sits at the end of the 900-metre-long Gerrla Canyon. Calm and peaceful now, it was the site of many battles against the Ottomans, and the home of patriots like Nora Kelmendi, Albania's greatest female warrior. Selca is the starting point for a beautiful two-hour hike up to the spectacular 30-metre-high Sllap waterfall, in a limestone riverbed with weirdly eroded shapes. Elsewhere in Selca, you'll find the iconic Greça beech tree, caves and the fresh water springs in the Koprrisht fields, fine hiking destinations high above the valley.
