Victorinox just opened its own store in the old town where it sells not only a good selection of its Swiss Army knives, but also kitchen knives, watches, luggage, leisure clothing and perfume. Founder Karl Elsner named the company after his mother Victoria and 'inox', which means stainless steel in French. It won a valuable contract to produce knives for the Swiss military in 1891 and continues to do so to this very day. Although it's the pocket knives for which it is so rightfully famous, its corkscrews and bottle openers also make excellent gifts. You can even have your knife engraved to make it that much more special.
