Mount Titlis in Engelberg is the biggest resort in central Switzerland. Its top attraction is a rotating gondola to Titlis, taking you up more than 3,000m above sea level. There you're afforded a spectacular view, a glacier and a daring cliff walk, but you can also whiz down a slope on a snowtube or a rubber tyre. If you're skiing or snowboarding take the steep slopes that lead back down to the village of Engelberg, 2,000m below. There are also 82km of slopes (suitable for beginners as well as experienced skiers), snow trekking paths, cross-country ski runs and more. Several shops rent equipment here and it takes only 43 minutes by train to get here from Lucerne.
