On the Schilthorn, at almost 3,000m above sea level, you're given an exhilarating view of the highest and most famous trinity of the Bernese Alps, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (weather permitting!). The top station features the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant which turns full circle in about 55 minutes. The station was the setting for the 1968 James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. The interactive exhibition Bond World 007 will remind you of all the film's best moments. Getting up there is also quite exciting: from Stechelberg four sections of cable cars take you up to the peak in just over 30 minutes. It is possible to hike all the way up, but only for really experienced hikers. But the region around Mürren offers many enjoyable hiking options for less accomplished hikers too. From Lucerne, take a train to Interlaken, at Interlaken change to a train to Lauterbrunnen. From there a bus takes you to Stechelberg valley station (roughly 2 hours 45 minutes all told).
You can book your cable car ticket here in advance.
