The Ljubljana Marathon has grown from less than 700 participants during its inaugural year back in 1996, to over 24,000 for last year's event won by the Kenyan Mutai Laban with a finishing result of 2:09:16. A two-day event, Saturday is dedicated towards children and teens, as well as a FUN RUN. The 10km run (starting at 08:30) and the 21/42km run (starting at 10:30) are held on Sunday, and will hopefully not see anywhere near the same level of unabashed, shameless cheating as that which apparently takes place at the head office of corporate sponsor Volkswagen (just joking Volkswagen!).
