Nataša Sedej: Starry Window
09:00–18:00
Grajska Planota 1
Light and shadow change the fragile and subtle surface of the ceramic objects. The illusion of floating generates a feeling of lightness, the surface of an infinite number of white particles reflects light. Simple, lyrical connections occur with things that deeply define us.
The installation goes beyond the limits of the classical understanding of material and shows technological mastery in combining different materials: white clay is in dialogue with iron wire, wire mesh and glass. The author explores the idea of how to define sculptural space with a three-dimensional drawing, woven from lines and points.
Through the star windows we gaze into infinity, into miracle and into the original mystery. They open into the transcendent landscapes of our being, which fertilise and call us. Through them, the timeless memory of our common stellar home shines. We look at the sky and we look at ourselves – at the reflection of the stars within us, whispering about chaos, coincidence, order and the organising principles of the universe.
Nataša Sedej's work "filigreely highlights the real and apparent material fragility of ceramics with its immanent and characteristic picturesque note, with which she subtly, unobtrusively, but extremely convincingly conquers the inner and outer sculptural space of the artwork, especially in the playful dialogue of complementing and interpenetrating light and shadows", wrote curator Marko Košan upon the awarding of the grand prize for her work "Vision Space".
The exhibition was prepared in collaboration with the Ljubljana Association of Fine Artists:
