Ljubljana's dining scene continues to get more international with each passing season, but we'd be lying if we said we'd expected to see a Hawaiian restaurant riding this radical culinary wave into town, let alone an authentic one with reasonable prices. Located in the arcade at the far south end of Slovenska Cesta, Koa was almost literally built by hand by the expat owner, whose many stops before the settling on the sunny side of the Alps included several years plying the catering trade in Hawaii. The menu consists of various different rice and salad bowls, with ingredients sourced from around the globe, while options for washing it down include several varieties of Hawaiian beer as well as tropical themed cocktails.
