Mark the date of 30th June for the event of the year, a kiki ball that continues the flow of Slovenian’s freshly started history of ballroom culture! The topic of this year's extravagant underground celebration of all queer creatures is “the Carnevale” - “the Unleashing of the Flesh”, “the Removing of the Meat”, “the Victory over the Enemy”, however you’d like to call it! We are going to be dissecting our stage personalities, playing with our flesh and bones and exploring our inner gore. Like the masks of the Venetian carneval that conceal emotion and identity through a facade of the elegant poker face, we throw this ball to celebrate diversity, individuality, community and creativity of our community and pay tribute to ballroom culture worldwide.

Slovenia’s first Kiki Ball was thrown a year ago by a group of vogue enthusiasts at the underground venue of Hupa Brajdič’s Podhod Ajdovščina. With over 100 sweaty bodies cheering on kings and queens of the runway with the room’s temperatures reaching dangerous highs we’re bringing it back for a second round, with more contestants, categories, judges and, considering last year’s turnout, a bigger venue. This year’s kiki-ball will occupy the dance hub of Plesni Theatre Ljubljana in Prule on the hottest of this summer’s Fridays.
