Best Pizza in & Around Ljubljana
The best thing about having two pizza categories is lusting over all the pizza photographs involved in putting together the lists of nominees. It’s another very tough category, and with pizza being such a popular food choice there’s almost an infinite number to choose from when we include the restaurants outside of the city. It wasn’t easy but we’ve had to narrow it down, so here’s our contenders for the title of Best Pizza in and around Ljubljana 2024
Zbornica
We didn't believe the hype, but all it took was a single visit to make Zbornica a regular haunt of ours. The oldest pizzeria in Ljubljana and still a quirky little favourite all these decades later, as well as a couple of ordinary tables, most dining here is done at the large bar from where the food is cooked and served. Find an empty stool, place your order and away you go. FYI, tradition dictates that you order a glass of blueberry juice to go along with your pie. Dodo’s Pizza chain knows what the people want and has an army of loyal customers that keep this branch busy seven days a week, where the friendly staff work hard to keep their 60 minute food delivery promise. As well as their much-loved pizzas, they also offer chicken dishes, mozzarella rolls and salads. They have a great selection of ice creams and desserts too. Antica pizzeria & Lounge Bar, Grosuplje
Anyone can make a pizza, but over at Antica they go the extra mile and import many of their ingredients from Naples. They also take great care in the dough preparation and patiently let it rise for up to 48 hours. Once the toppings of meats and cheeses (many with the Italian DOP certification) go on, they are fantastically tasty! You can pick these little beauties up every Wednesday, you won’t see these anywhere else in town.
