If you're like us then your first instinct when the calendar changes to December is to have one of your personal assistants call the airport and get your private jet ready to fly off to Saint Moritz, Courcheval or Zermatt for a couple weeks of early season skiing and merriment before the holidays arrive. However, this year you can get a similar atmosphere with a much small carbon footprint by walking over to the Vander Urbani Resort in the old town for their monthlong Après Ski experience Champagne, hot gin, mulled wine and a variety of snacks - including oysters, chocolate fondue and Kranjska klobasa - all await at the cosy setting along the riverside.
