Ljubljana truly is turning into something of a paradise for lovers of food. Befitting a cosmopolitan capital city, the sheer breadth of things on offer in our home base is as impressive as it is astounding. Ljubljana is becoming a magnet for all things gourmet, adding extra layers of class to a fast-evolving restaurant scene. If top end cuisine isn’t your thing then the homely comforts of traditional Slovenian food or the delightful world of grilled Balkan meats are also in abundance, as well as some of the finest pizza in the region and fish-centric places that rival anything else on the Istrian (or Adriatic for that matter) coast. 2014 also saw Ljubljana take on an increased international flair in its cuisine, with new Indian, Latin American and Lebanese restaurants opening, among others.

As such, it is with great excitement that we reveal the categories and competitors in our third annual Best Restaurants poll. Restaurants open and restaurants close, meaning there has once again been a little shuffle in our poll. All our favourite areas of the food world are covered once more, including the difficult selection of choosing a favourite restaurant outside of the capital. Every time we look at the choices, a different name pops out. We would like to wish the best of luck to everyone involved and many thanks in advance to everyone voting. Vote wisely!
