Not only is this charming house one of Liepāja’s oldest buildings, it also has the distinction of having hosted the Russian tsar on his trip to Western Europe in 1697. Coincidentally, the historic house across the street (Kungu 26/Bāriņu 33) was built only two years later and served as accommodation for King Charles XII of Sweden, the tsar’s rival during the Great Northern War (1699 - 1721).
