The city is blessed with a number of gorgeous shopping arcades, the sorts of places that encourages as much photography as they do commerce, and Victoria Leeds likely leans more to the former than the latter. The arcade was built as the 19th century became the 20th and it represented an altogether more stylish approach to shopping. Frank Matcham was the architectural brains behind it, and the Devonshire designer brought plenty of his usual work into this piece (Matcham was mostly known for designing theatres). The shopping spot is home to some 80 stores, including big names like John Lewis. There is also a casino, if you’re into that sort of thing.
