An immensely picturesque location, there is more to Thwaite Mills than a photo opportunity and winsome history. This fully restored and working water-powered mill was built way back in 1825 and is one of the best examples of the type left in Britain, a loving nod to the city’s industrial past that does more than doff its cap. The complex is made up of three Grade II listed buildings that all act as museums, showcasing the working conditions and ordinary lives of the men and women who helped put Leeds on the industrial map. A favourite with visitors of all ages.
