Czech Museum of Silver - Hrádek
The building the Silver Museum is in was originally a castle dating back to 1312. At the end of the 15th century it was transformed into a luxurious residence by a wealthy local who unfortunately ran up a lot of debts and was forced to sell it to Jan Smíšek who invested even more into doing the place up. Rumour has it, the reason for his wealth was that he was secretly melting silver on the premises thereby stealing from the crown and becoming rich enough to maintain and refine his residence.
